Friday is my "enrollment meeting" for subbing in the districts near my house. For some reason almost all of the Oakland County school districts out-source their subs through this company. Unfortunately the first enrollment meeting of the year is Friday (2 weeks after school started). I am hoping that with all the paper work, finger printing, etc done I will just need to turn it in at the meeting and start subbing immediately. They really don't explain what the meeting is for. It appears to be a group hiring thing though.

Next weekend on Sept 24, my cousin, Sean is getting married. So I will be flying to KC and driving to OKC with my family for the wedding. They just got engaged a month ago but Sean is getting shipped off with the air force again in Oct. so they are having the wedding before he leaves.

Ryan has 2 weeks of vacation (10days) and we are going to try to use them for holidays to visit family. Right now the plan is to use 5 days and take a week off for Thanksgiving break/Ryan's birthday. That way we could drive to MO, spend time with both our families and drive back. We also want to use the other 5 days for Christmas. Chrysler gives their employees a week off for Christmas break and Ryan can use his other vacation days to extend our visit to 2 weeks. Then we can spend 2 weeks in MO for Christmas. We are going to try to drive also because it will be easier to transport gifts, we won't have to worry about finding flights and we may have to bring the cats with us (if mom and dad approve) because traveling WITH us is less stressful on Keyser than boarding him at a kennel WITHOUT us for 2 weeks. We are doing really well at keeping Keyser hydrated, active and relaxed. It could be dangerous for his health to leave him at a kennel for 2 weeks.

We are working really hard right now to try to save money. Ryan's car has problems we don't want to have to fix since his parents aren't letting him keep/sell it. They want it back when Ryan is able to buy a new car so they can use/sell it. So we have been on the look-out. Ryan already knows what he wants. Unfortunately, it isn't the cheapest. He has fallen in love with the 2011 Golf TDI (clean diesel) 4 door in blue graphite metallic.

We took one for a test drive because he was trying to decide which he liked better, the Golf or the Focus. After driving both of them, we both like the Golf better. Plus with the TDI clean diesel engine the car gets about 42mpg on the highway. Estimated close to 600miles on a tank of gas. And for some reason the new Focus 5 door cars feel really bulky on the inside. The seats are sort of large and so is the dash/touch screen area leaving it feeling very small inside, even though the actual car is not that small. You end up putting the seats much further back than you would in an older focus and then there is no room in the back seats for legs to fit. The time of the "roomy focus" went out the window with this one.

There is a local dealership that has the Golf Ryan wants right now. However, it is a DEMO right now and since they just got it in it will stay a DEMO for a few months.
Hopefully, we'll save the money by the time it is released for sale (and score a discount for it being a demo) or maybe in that time another one will surface. The guy said he would keep in contact with Ryan and work with him if he decides that is the car he wants.

I guess that is what is going on right now. I'm still hoping a teacher quits/gets fired/has a baby so an opening will come up and I can get a full-time teaching position. I've spoken with some teachers in the area and most of them say their school only cut teachers, no hiring happened. At least I know I'm not crazy and there really were almost no jobs. I'm beyond frustrated by it but trying to stay positive.
